We use open source libraries and frameworks in our products and it has helped us to develop faster, test ideas, and cultivate a spirit of exploration. And we hope to give back to the developer and the research community by sharing more and more of our initiatives.
Some of our initiatives are joint research projects that we have worked on with IIT Delhi, some are utility tools that we have developed to augment our development process, others are projects we have explored to test new ideas, and a few are just wild experiments…

Working-at-height Detection It has been shown that working at height is one of the biggest causes of fatalities and major injuries. It includes falls from high or raised platforms, ladders or through fragile surfaces. We trained a machine learning model to detect if a person is working at height and show how AI can be used to flag security risks.

Boto Assume Role with MFA
In order to secure the use of particular roles within AWS you may implement policies that require MFA on the session that is attempting to assume the protected role. To make this less annoying we would also like to cache the MFA credentials for some time, and across which ever roles are being used.
The approach we take here is to use the boto JSONFileCache. We start a base session with your user profile, then we use the base session to request a temporary session with MFA protection. In turn this temporary session can now be used to assume roles, possible across accounts, even if assuming those roles requires MFA by policy.
Security Quizzes - Training Aids
Security risks are no longer just about stolen passwords, accidental virus attacks or physical thefts but often cause API disruption, IP theft and Personal Data Breach - all of which can be devastating, particularly for startups. Many startups have fallen victim to extortion, lost credibility with clients, faced market delays and in some instances even being forced to shutdown.
We recognised this early, invested from day one and designed a simple approach built on incremental improvements - every single effort, every day makes our product secure, our systems resilient and our processes innovative (not just optimal).
And this year, the pandemic pushed us to experiment and we came up with an engaging way of keeping security on our radar. We built on our strengths - short video, guided interactions, nudges - all three wrapped in a layer of storytelling. We generated interest, started conversations and engaged everyone through fun and interactive quizzes.
We are happy to share some of our content and encourage everyone to make security their responsibility.
